Get to Know iTunes Basics

iTunes is a media player where you can manage your iOS devices and shop for digital products. Even if you don’t have an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac or Apple TV, you can always use iTunes to discover, purchase, download and stream new music, listen to radios, play video and audio files…yet iTunes is more than that.

How to Use iTunes

iTunes manages contents on iPod, iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad devices. All the syncing, backups, app download and content organization on your iOS devices are achieved through iTunes.

You’ll need an Apple ID if you

  • Use iCloud, iChat, iMessage, FaceTime or Find My iPhone
  • Download apps from the App Store
  • Buy from the iTunes Store
  • Make a reservation at an Apple Retail Store
  • Use certain resources on the Apple Support website

So your fun with iTunes will be much greater if you have an Apple ID.
