FamilySearch Registration Guide
There are two kinds of account for you to choose to create: FamilySearch Account (for the general public) and LDS FamilySearch Account (LDS Account for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) when you click on the ‘Free Account’ button in new.familysearch.org (Click the link in Reference Links at the bottom of this page to be redirected to target page) and enter into the register page.
- For the FamilySearch Account registration, you should enter your name, display name, gender, user name, password, email address and alternate email address, then click on register.
- For the LDS FamilySearch Account registration, members of the Church can now use a single registration to get access to FamilySearch and all other Church Web sites. Click continue and enter membership record number, date of birth, personal profile, email address and more.
- If you forget the user name from your LDS FamilySearch Account, click the Forgot? link that is next to the User name field. When the system asks which type of account you have, click LDS FamilySearch Account. Enter the e-mail address and enter your personal information so to recover your user name. If you forget the password from your LDS FamilySearch Account, click the Forgot? link that is next to the Password field. Click the password link that is located in the first paragraph, enter your user name and reset your password.
- If you forget the user name from your FamilySearch Account, the solution is the same as the above.
